ADULT DISCUSSION GROUP  9AM SUNDAYS
The Adult Discussion Group meets at 9:00 am on Sunday and is open to everyone. Between Sept. 17 and mid-October, we plan to read and discuss “Eternal Hostility: The Struggle Between Theocracy and Democracy” (1997) by Frederick Clarkson (~$7.00) Drawing on years of rigorous research, Clarkson exposes the wild card of the “theology of vigilantism” which urges the enforcement of “God’s law” and argues for fundamentalist revolution against constitutional democracy. Contrary to popular belief, these figures are usually neither nuts nor alone. Starting in October we plan to read “Thank You for Being Late: An Optimist’s Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations” – (2016) by Thomas L. Friedman (~$14.96) Hardcover.  It had an average of 4.5 of 5.0 stars by reviews by 687 Amazon customers.  It is a #1 Best Seller in Globalization & Politics.
Open to adult members, friends and visitors—the only requirement is that they enjoy an exchange of ideas on issues  Usually a book is being read by the group, but between books, however, news articles and interesting topics may be the center of the conversation. From time to time there may be special topic videos or presentations.
